Amazing Space for Austin’s Pets

After months of renovations and construction, Emancipet is celebrating the Grand Opening of a new spay/neuter clinic and administrative office in East Austin.  Since 2005, Emancipet’s stationary spay/neuter clinic was housed in a building at the City of Austin’s Health and Human Services complex, which was vacated for the construction of the City’s new animal shelter on that site.

This new, state of the art clinic is a gift to the animals of Austin from a community that cares deeply about animals.  In all, Emancipet received cash and in-kind services of $165,000 to build this clinic.  The lead gift came from philanthropist Katherine Boone, whose cash donation went towards the purchase of two modular buildings and part of the renovations needed to transform them into a clinic and an office space.  Burt Watts Industries and their partners donated over $30,000 in labor and materials, allowing the completion of the renovations. The City of Austin also contributed by allowing Emancipet to lease the land for the clinic at no cost.  Other individuals and companies that contributed in-kind services to the new clinic include Emily and Nancy Word, Austin IT Guy, Johnson Security & Surveillance, Jones Lang LaSalle, Architects Plus, CJG Engineers, and Paul Mair Millwork.

The clinic will allow Emancipet to provide low-cost spay/neuter and wellness services to over 20,000 pets each year.

On Friday, October 2, Emancipet will host an Open House celebration at the new clinic from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, and tours of the clinic will be available.  To celebrate the grand opening, during the entire month of October, Emancipet will offer free surgery and a rabies vaccines at the clinic for cats only who live in Montopolis neighborhood, zip code 78741.  All cat owners who live in 78741 may call 587-7729 for an appointment.  This special offer is possible because of a partnership between Emancipet and the City of Austin.  You can read more about this special here.
