Staff Star: Meet Dr. Kimberly Bodner
After working part-time with EmanciPET we are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kimberly Bodner has joined our team as one of our fabulous full time veterinarians!
Before coming to Austin with her Aggie husband, Dr. Bodner had her own veterinary practice in Tenessee. While researching where to make a professional home for herself, Dr. Bodner heard about the work of Dr. Ellen Jefferson and EmanciPET. After meeting with Dr. Jefferson, Dr. Bodner had the opportunity to see just what working at EmanciPET would really mean. “When I experienced the operations at the building and on the mobile unit, I was hooked. I started working only occasionally as a relief vet, and of course, now that’s turned into a full-time position.” Dr. Bodner adds, “The techs and staff are so incredible. They work some of the hardest days you’ll see in veterinary medicine, and the reason they do it is for the cause. You leave after working a day with them knowing that you have made a difference for the individual animal as well as for Austin’s pet community overall.” Dr. Bodner has been a wonderful addition to the dedicated EmanciPET team. Recently, EmanciPET helped provide services to Meals on Wheels clients whose pets had not been seen by a veterinarian for some time. Dr. Bodner donated an entire day of expertise to ensure that each animal was sent happily home to grateful owners.
When she’s not improving the lives of pets and their owners, she indulges in Austin’s live music scene and explores the trails of the Greenbelt. Dr. Bodner has two cats, Boudreaux and Butters. She adopted Butters, a 1 year old cat, from a shelter here in Austin off of 183. “He is a local rescue, and in many ways he rescued me from a bit of home sickness early on."
