Free Pet Services in East Austin

Our mobile clinic now serves East Austin neighborhoods on Fridays and Saturdays

If you live in East Austin or have a City of Austin Medical Assistance Program (MAP) card, you can have your pet spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and registered with the City of Austin (as required by law)… at no cost!

  • Your pet must be on a leash or in a secure box.
  • Space is very limited and services are first-come, first-served. No more than three pets per person per visit.

For spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination and city registration (free!):

  • Do not feed your pet after midnight prior to surgery. Water is okay.
  • Bring your pet for check-in no later than 8:00 a.m. These services are first-come, first-served, and some people begin showing up as early as 5:30 a.m. to get a spot in line. If you have a large dog (over 40 lbs.), a female animal, or multiple animals, we recommend arriving by 6:00 a.m. because of  limited space. The van will arrive at 8:00 a.m. On most free Fridays and Saturdays,  an EmanciPET volunteer will be onsite beginning at 6:00 a.m. to take clients’ names on a signup sheet and answer questions about our services.
  • Pick your pet up between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. on the same day  .

Other services are available between 10:00am - 4:00pm (offered at low cost). Rabies and city registration are free:

  • Your pet must be spayed or neutered
  • Services available: de-worming, flea and tick prevention, vaccines and heartworm testing for dogs, vaccines and feline leukemia/feline AIDS testing for cats

Funding provided by the City of Austin/Travis County Animal Services
